Three Men Charged With Battery Following Fight At DEF LEPPARD Concert

August 4, 2005

According to the Schaumburg Review, a fight broke out during the DEF LEPPARD/BRYAN ADAMS concert at Alexian Field in Schaumburg, Illinois at about 9:30 p.m. July 30 resulting in the arrest of three men, Schaumburg police said.

According to a police report, a group of concert-goers sitting in the main concourse had complained that occupants of a skybox had been spilling beer, ice cubes and cigarette ash on them during the concert. On three separate occasions they had approached security on duty, requesting assistance in stopping the skybox patrons' behavior to no avail.

The patrons on the concourse level attempted to stop the skybox patron behavior by throwing plastic beer bottles back up into the skybox area, allegedly hitting occupants of the skybox. The skybox patrons retaliated by throwing full beverage containers down onto the concourse patrons, who then went to the third-floor skybox level to confront the skybox occupants. Words were exchanged, which "ignited a melee" between the two parties, according to police reports.

Arrested and charged with simple battery were Brandon G. Colburn, 29, of 1608 Wilson Court, Zion, and Timothy M. Gelsomino, 21, of 200 Thames, Apt. 7-1H, Park Ridge. Their court date is Sept. 15.

Joseph J. Sartin, 33, of 1490 Lancaster Lane, Libertyville, was charged with simple battery and criminal damage to property. His court date is Sept. 15.
